The police say it's not against the law to be naked on your own property
A man who lives in a suburban Charlotte, North Carolina neighborhood is giving a new meaning to the word air dry.
According to WBTV, the man has been standing in his doorway and showing off his birthday suit to his neighbors for ten years.
Pecolia Threatt, a woman who lives in the neighborhood, told WBTV that she was taking her trash out and she saw the man “standing there buck naked.”
“It’s not good to have people walking around here naked like that a grown man like that with all these kids out here you know,” WBTV quoted Threatt as saying.
The neighbors have filed complaints with the Homeowner’s Association and the police department.
However, a police spokesperson told WBTV that they aren’t able to arrest the man because he’s showing himself in his natural form while on his property.
The question about charging the man with indecent exposure has come up, but the police told WBTV that that applies in cases whereby the person is running around naked while on public property.
Basically, the man can show his birthday suit to the public while he’s on his property; but the man is prohibited from showing his birthday suit to the public while he’s on the public’s property.
So unless the man or his neighbors move out of the neighborhood, the neighbors will most likely have to deal with the neighborhood doorway flasher for another 10 years.
